12/31/2022 0 Comments Steve lomax cueI won 3-0 but each game he was a threat, as Jessie showed that if I left him a cross that he would make it.īen had a BYE but had to play the winner of the Warren Kiamco/Chris Robinson match, which turned out to be Chris, and our boy Ben started the match up 2-0 in games. He made some nice shots, but scratched a couple times or he’d have probably won the first game. I drew a local Florida player, Jessie Link, my first match. The Calcutta lasted for maybe two and a half hours, which was much longer than expected but considering that it covered 3 events, it actually went pretty well. I bought myself in the Calcutta out of a combination of obligation and guilt. We got to the pool room as the Calcutta was just getting started. After talking with the wait staff, we learned that the weekend customers acted more like they were in a nightclub than a pool hall, and that this weekend would be a nice relaxing break for them without the usual craziness. We walked into the pool room, which was fashioned more like a nightclub but with pool tables everywhere instead. When we pulled into the parking lot, I immediately noticed a Crafty Crab at the end of the plaza and briefly forgot that we just ate. We checked in our hotel, went to our first of three trips to Chipotle, then headed to Zingale’s. It was brutal, but educational, and I plan to read more about it all in “Two Meals a Day” when the book arrives. We eventually decided we could do the same thing in his home room, where I proceeded to continue to bounce balls off the rail some more until Ben was so bored he called it a night.īen and I drive to Tallahassee without stopping for food while listening to a podcast about…food. ![]() We went straight to Mr Cues where there were 300 people playing but no action for us, so I beat balls into the rail for a few hours with Ben on a table with the fastest cushions and one of the tighter playing set of pockets I’ve come across. The truth is that I don't make every jump shot but I am so much better at jumping than I formerly was that is is a joke that I waited this long to try out Steve Lomax's signature jump cues.Įventually, even a hard-head like me will try something new when it is offered to him.I flew out to Atlanta, where I left my shades in the pocket of the seat in front of me, and got picked up by Ben, aka Hardmix, at the airport. Now, I am expecting to make the object ball on EVERY shot. I no long jump hoping to hit the object ball. There is NO DOUBT that my jumping ability has increased significantly. On shots where the cue ball is close to an impeding object ball, I can use the first two pieces and dart stroke exceptionally well.Īlso on medium distance shots, I can use the same first two pieces of the jump cue with incredible accuracy. ![]() If I have a super long distance jump shot, I add the third piece and it definitely helps with accuracy on the longer shot. Steve's jump cue comes in three pieces and I can jump most shots with the traditional method of jumping using just two pieces of the jump cue, leaving off the last part. I always thought that my "light" jump cue was superior for "dart stroking/jumping" and that just isn't so. Immediately upon using the Lomax jump cue, I knew that it was capable of jumping far better than my other jump cues, ESPECIALLY heavier cue balls. The jump cue that he sent, matches my POW-MIA Bender playing cue's rings and I have been practicing with it for a few days now.īuffalo Billiards had a table that is waiting to be covered so I practiced off and one for the past couple of days. ![]() I didn't want a break/jump cue and so he sent me a jump cue to test out. After a couple of telephone conversations, Steve sent me one of his unique jump cues. Recently, I had difficulty jumping the heavier bar table cue ball and was in search of another jump cue. Steve Lomax has been after me for quite a long time to try out his line of jump cues and I have declined his generous offer for some time, partially because I always seem to have one or two jump cues that I was satisfied with.
